How to Set Up a Second Google Account and How To Use It

When it comes to the internet space, there are few names bigger and better than the subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., Google. The abundance of opportunity that Google affords users is one that cannot be easily overlooked. Setting aside the obvious fact that Google is the most accurate as well as highest ranking search engine in the world today, the email service that it provides is ahead of its time and second to none.

As such, it is only natural that internet users in the 21st century avail themselves of the opportunities that it presents and use it to its fullest potential. Don’t think that is a very good idea?

Then consider this briefly.

With just a valid and verified Google account, you are given the chance to fully use a host of apps to their fullest extent. What’s more, you get to receive business and personal emails in real time as well. As if that’s not enough, you get access to the top-notch navigation system that is Google Maps. You won’t have to worry about losing any precious information and data as it provides one of the safest and most secure cloud storage services available today. Your business will only flourish when you leverage the arsenal of productivity tools that it puts at your full disposal as well.

And as the old saying goes, “All work and no play make Jack a dull boy.” You can escape boredom or simply relax when you listen to music or watch a movie, all with a simple Google account!

However, to be able to even touch the cornucopia of benefits that a Google account provides, they need to know you are a real person.

The direct implication of this is that you need to get verified. This can prove a bit challenging, especially when you want to create a second account with this internet titan. There are several vital data about yourself you would need to duly tender, first. But you mightn’t even be able to get this far, if you aren’t inn possession of a valid phone number that Google can use to duly verify your account. For this reason, among others, you would need to procure a valid virtual number for SMS verification by Google.

As was earlier mentioned above, in order to complete the Google account registration process, certain information is required of you. Some things you can expect to provide for this process include but aren’t restricted to,

  • Your DOB (Date of Birth),
  • Your gender,
  • You would be also asked to create a password, naturally.
  • An email that will be used as your backup contact, in case you lose your password later on (Optional). But, should you choose, you are even permitted to input your first Google account as your recovery email.
  • You would also be required to provide a profile picture as well. This is also optional.
  • Your two-factor authentication would also have to be done at this point as well.

On Your Mobile Device

Once your account has been properly created, verified and activated, now comes the time to start adding your new account to all your devices.

We’ll be starting out with your mobile device. It is actually very crucial that you keep in mind the fact that this process may differ from smartphone to smartphone, as well as from operating software to operating software.

On an Android Device

All things considered, this is a relatively simple process with android devices. This is because most android device manufactures configure their devices operating under the assumption that you would add a secondary Google account at one point in time or the other.

For this reason, the process is incredibly streamlined. As such, all you have to do is locate and access your Settings function and look up the Accounts function. There, you would be able to easy find the Add Account function for Google specifically. Once you input the details of the new account, you are effectively good to go.

Once you have done this one your android device, you can expect the effect to circulate through the entire device. Naturally, different apps will reflect this new development in very different ways.

On Your iOS Mobile Device

As you can imagine, the sequence of steps you would have to follow is a bit different on iOS mobile devices. In fact, it can get rather convoluted, leading you to make mistakes. In order to avoid such a scenario, what you can do is get the Google app on that iOS mobile device.

This is easy to do as the app is conveniently located on the official store of the device. Once you have downloaded it there, go to the app and open it. Look for the avatar on your screen. Upon locating it and clicking it, you would be presented with the Add Another Account option. Simply fill in the required information, choose your primary account, and you’re all set!

On Your Personal Computer or Laptop

Perhaps the best way to go about this process on a PC or a laptop computer is through your Gmail.

This is relatively simple as well.

All you have to do is log on to your current account, there, the only actions that you have to take here is locate and click on the Avatar icon where you would find the Add Another Account option. Fill in your credentials, as per usual and you are effectively logged on to the second account as well.

What this, when you log on to Gmail the next time, you would be first met with your primary account. This is the account you must have chosen as your default account. To switch over to the other account, simply find that avatar icon as usual and click on it. It would present you with a drop down that would show you all the accounts that you have on Google. You can then choose which one you want to see.

While you don’t have to be verified to access a significant portion of the services that Google provides, keep in mind that the extent to which you can use many of these resources will be vastly limited, so proper verification by whatever means or channel is vital.
